Henry Jeffreys is an acclaimed journalist, alcohol historian and public speaker.

Henry Jeffreys is an acclaimed journalist, alcohol historian and public speaker, who was honoured as Drink Writer of the Year at the prestigious Fortnum & Mason Food & Drink Awards in 2022.

 

Henry initially started his writing career under the name of Blake Pudding as a co-founder of the London Review of Breakfasts and key contributor to their Breakfast Bible. Since then, he has become a leading authority on the drinks world under his own name, sharing insights and discoveries at Henry's World of Booze, whilst also serving as Features Editor for the Master of Malt website.

 

Henry is the author of the critically acclaimed Empire of Booze, celebrated as the Debut Drink Book of the Year at the Fortnum & Mason Awards. Following its success, The Home Bar and the Cocktail Dictionary further solidified his position as an expert in his field. August 2023 marked the release of Vines in a Cold Climate (Allen & Unwin), a captivating exploration of the English wine industry's journey and transformation over the past thirty years and the visionaries responsible for bringing English wine to the world stage. The late, great Russell Norman described it as “the best book on wine I’ve read.”

 

Henry also writes regularly for The Guardian, Telegraph, Spectator, the Lady and the Oldie, on the subject of books, drink and popular culture. He has worked closely with the BBC, as a wine critic for their Good Food Wine Club in collaboration with Laithwaites, and on the judging panel for the BBC Food And Farming Awards. He has also proved to be a popular guest on the likes of CNBC, Sunday with Michael Portillo on GB News and The Rest is History podcast. 

 

A confident and entertaining public speaker, Henry has tailored talks for prestigious events including Rye Arts Festival, Culture Bite, The Restaurant Show and the Spirit of Christmas Fair at London Olympia. His international engagements include events in Portugal for distinguished port companies Taylors, Croft, Fonseca and Krohn.
