Levison Wood - Eastern Horizons
Hodder & Stoughton have acquired two new books by Levison Wood, winner of the Edward Stanford Adventure Travel Book of the Year Award and author of the bestselling Walking The Nile, Walking The Himalayas and Walking The Americas. Levison was in his early twenties when he hitch-hiked from England to India through Russia, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Fascinated by the early explorers and with a history degree in the bag and an army career planned, he was determined to find out more about the people of the Caucasus and beyond. Upon his return, Lev wrote a 100,000 word account of his journey to be published in November 2017 under the title Eastern Horizons: Hitchhiking The Silk Road. World rights were acquired from Jo Cantello at Wolfsong Media.

James Evans - Emigrants
In his latest book, historian James Evans tells the fascinating story of the ordinary English men and women who risked crossing the Atlantic in the 17th century to find a better life. Nearly 380,000 made the journey for a multitude of reasons, including religious persecution, loyalty to the King, a bid to find their fortune in the gold, fur or fishing trades, and many simply out of sheer desperation. Considering the population of England was only around five and a half million at the time, this was a staggering number. 'Emigrants: Why The English Sailed To The New World' was published in the UK by Weidenfeld & Nicolson on July 6th. Cover design by Andrew Smith.

For Amanda, home is Ravenseat, a 2000 acre hill farm at the head of Swaledale in North Yorkshire. Wherever she goes, Amanda carries a camera, taking pictures of everyday farming and family life, with the backdrop of the austere and wild beauty of some of Yorkshire's most remote moors. The Yorkshire Shepherdess notecards and 2016 calendar are both now available, priced £8.99, with Graffeg also launching a range of notebooks later in the year.
